Last week the Singles (2000-2009 – I can’t bring myself to use the term N0ughties) decade was given a grand send off, and we’ve all taken some tentative steps into 2010. The future is officially here! And if there is one thing I’m very excited about, it’s the future
Can you guess why? Well it’s not because I’m finally getting my flying car.
No, it’s because something else seemingly fantastic (to me at least) has occurred. I’m now my own boss!
Late last year I gave up a job where I was getting paid well, had the respect of my peers and friendly work environment and interesting(ish) work. But I was not happy. Why? I guess a lot of people would be happy with my lot, but I had been harbouring a dirty little secret, one that had haunted my entire career. Something I couldn’t reveal to my employers – I wanted to be my own boss!
So after roughly nine years of working for someone else the stars have aligned and I have just started living the dream of turning my ideas into products. Products that people will love and make ZiZee a few bucks to keep this dream alive.
So, what does the future hold? Well, I’m no Nostradamus, but I’ll let you know that I am not going to hold my breath on having a flying car any-time soon, although I do wish all those trying to make this dream a reality the best of luck. What I do know is that this year is going to be a big one for ZiZee, with the following big milestones coming up in the very near future:
- Launching a real website (this blog will be relegated to a sub domain);
- Launching v0.5 of Zimmersion (along with its own site, learning resources and blog);
- Unveiling of ZiZee’s new Logo (oooh, shiny!)
There will also be a lot of effort put into marketing to build interest in Zimmersion for beta testing and to get feedback from users to ensure I’m moving the right direction. I’m going for a release early and often approach, so as soon as Zimmersion is at a stage when it is going to be of use to others, I’ll put it up and people can have a play.
So I’m very excited about this year, finally seeing my dreams come to fruition – it’s going to be great and I’m really, really happy! That said, I’d still like my flying car please. A red one.
Happy New Year Everyone!

Hello Jimmy,
Sounds like a dream come true! Do you need beta testers for your product, Zimmersion? I’d be happy to help as this kind of thing is right up my alley! Being a Linguist and language teacher, I may be of assistance with any grammar problems you may encounter.
Cheers.
Wow Noodle, that would be wonderful. Initially Zimmersion will be concentrating on being a vocabulary learning tool (so grammar is not Zimmersion’s focus atm), but I’m sure your skills will come in very handy. For any others interested in being a beta tester for Zimmersion, you can submit your email address via zimmersion.com and I’ll be in contact!
Thanks again Noodle! I’ll be in contact soon
